JOB DESCRIPTION

 

THE KEY TO A BEAUTIFUL VENUE IS THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES DEDICATED TO MAINTAINING ITS BEAUTY. OUR GROUNDSKEEPERS MAKE SURE THAT EVERY COUPLE & GUEST WHO WALK THROUGH THE PROPERTY CAN SEE AND FEEL THE HARD WORK OF A WELL CARED FOR SPACE.


IF YOU’RE WORKING AS A GROUNDSKEEPER, YOU WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROPERTY AND ENSURE THE GROUNDS ARE IN PERFECT SHAPE FOR ALL OF OUR EVENTS. RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: MOWING, WEEDING, PLANTING, FERTILIZING, RAKING, AND TRIMMING THE GROUNDS, AS WELL AS CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE OF THE BUILDINGS AND PARKING LOTS.

 

SHIFTS ARE SEASONAL (APRIL-NOVEMBER).  THEY ARE TYPICALLY 2-5 HOURS SHIFTS THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. YOU’LL BE ON ROTATION WITH OTHER GROUNDSKEEPERS, AND YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO WORK 5-25 HOURS PER WEEK.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • WORK AS A TEAM WITH THE GROUNDSKEEPERS TO ENSURE THE ENTIRE PROPERTY IS PROPERLY CARED FOR

  • PERFORM ROUTINE CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE OF THE GROUNDS, BUILDINGS, AND PARKING AREAS AS DIRECTED BY YOUR SUPERVISOR

  • MOW, TRIM, FERTILIZE, WEED, RAKE AND WATER GRASS AND PLANTS

  • TRIM TREES, BUSHES, OTHER PLANTS AS NECESSARY

  • SAFELY OPERATE POWER TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT (LAWN MOWERS, WEED TRIMMERS, DRILLS ETC.) FOR GROUNDS MAINTENANCE AND ENSURE EQUIPMENT REMAINS IN GOOD, WORKING CONDITION

  • TROUBLESHOOT PROPERTY/FACILITY/EQUIPMENT ISSUES AND COMMUNICATE TO YOUR SUPERVISOR, AS NEEDED

  • SPRAY PROPERTY WITH APPROPRIATE CHEMICALS TO CONTROL WEEDS AND INSECTS, AS NEEDED

  • AT THE END OF THE SEASON, PREPARE FACILITIES AND GROUNDS FOR WINTER AND/OR OTHER ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS, AS NEEDED

  • CLEAR AND REMOVE SNOW AND ICE DURING WINTER SEASON, AS NEEDED

  • BE PROFESSIONAL IN ALL INTERACTIONS WITH ABELLA TEAM, GUESTS, AND VENDORS

  • ATTEND AND PARTICIPATE IN YOUR ASSIGNED ABELLA TEAM MEETINGS AND EVENTS

  • COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR SUPERVISOR IN ADVANCE ABOUT YOUR SCHEDULE AND TIME-OFF REQUESTS; IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES OR SICK DAYS, CONTACT YOUR SUPERVISOR IMMEDIATELY AND COORDINATE A COWORKER SUBSTITUTE TO COVER YOUR EVENT AS NEEDED

  • EMBRACE AND MODEL ABELLA AND OUR VALUES

  • EXERCISE DISCRETION AT ALL TIMES

  • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF RELATED GROUNDSKEEPING AND CLEANING TASKS

  • PREFERRED: 1+ YRS WORK EXPERIENCE IN GROUNDSKEEPING, CLEANING, PROPERTY MAINTENANCE OR EQUIVALENT

  • ABLE TO SAFELY OPERATE HAND AND POWER TOOLS/EQUIPMENT

  • ABLE TO SAFELY OPERATE MOTOR VEHICLES (VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE REQUIRED)

  • ENJOY WORKING OUTSIDE

  • ABLE TO STAND, WALK, JOG/RUN (AS NEEDED) FOR 2-6 HOUR SHIFT

  • BE A SELF-STARTER AND SOLUTION-ORIENTED

  • BE A COLLABORATIVE TEAM-PLAYER

  • BE POSITIVE AND CONFIDENT

  • BE HIGHLY PERSONABLE AND DEMONSTRATE A GUEST-FIRST SERVICE APPROACH TO INTERACTIONS WITH PEOPLE

  • MUST MAINTAIN A PROFESSIONAL APPEARANCE AND FOLLOW THE ABELLA ATTIRE GUIDELINES

  • MUST BE ON TIME

  • MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION

  • ABLE TO LIFT UP TO 60 LBS.

  • MUST BE ABLE TO WORK SEASONALLY FROM APRIL-NOVEMBER

  • MUST HAVE AVAILABILITY TO WORK A COMBINATION OR SPECIFIC CATEGORY OF: WEEKDAYS, WEEKENDS, EVENINGS, LATE NIGHTS, AND/OR SOME HOLIDAYS

  • HOURS ARE DEPENDENT ON EVENTS SCHEDULED AND WHAT’S NEEDED; SHIFTS RANGE FROM 2-6 HOURS
