Venue Manager
Part-Time || Hourly || Seasonal
As venue manager, you will assist the owners of Abella Weddings & Events in executing general functions of the business during events. You will represent the venue at all times and perform excellent customer service.
Schedule
Abella generally has events Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during peak season (May-October) with the occasional Thursday. During the non-peak season (April, November and early December), there are 1-2 events per weekend. The venue is typically closed mid-December through March.
For most events, there are two venue manager shifts - morning manager and evening manager - with each shift 9-11 hours. The shifts overlap during guest arrival and the ceremony, which is when the most activity is happening. For example, for a wedding with a 4:30 pm ceremony time, the typical morning shift would be 8 am-5 pm and the typical evening shift would be 3:30 pm-1 am.
Essential Duties
Open or close event spaces (depending on shift); e.g. unlocking/locking doors, turning on/off lights, restocking bathrooms; occasionally cleaning wedding suites
Set up tables, chairs and rental items according to floor plan for each event (depending on scope of event, additional setup staff will be provided as needed before or after event)
Supervise event attendant staff
Assist with greeting guests, directing parking lot traffic, driving golf cart, etc.
Work with security staff to monitor property and ensure guest safety (report issues to security staff)
Provide excellent customer service to clients and guests during the event, troubleshooting as needed
If desired, provide venue tours to potential clients on weeknights or off-peak weekend days as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must be 18 years or older
Must be able to safely engage in physical labor (stand, walk, bend, squat, lift etc.) for 8-10 hour shifts
Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs
Must enjoy working outside
Must be a self-starter and problem-solver; a collaborative team-player; positive and confident
Must maintain a professional appearance and follow the Abella attire guidelines
Must be on time and have reliable transportation
Must be able to work seasonally, generally from April-November
Must have availability to work a combination or specific category of weekends, evenings, late nights, and/or some holidays
Event Attendant
Part-Time || Hourly || Seasonal
As an event attendant, you will work closely with venue managers to make sure everything is ready to go for wedding day at Abella!
During our peak season (end of April through end of November), we will have events on all Fridays and Saturdays and some Sundays. Typically, two event attendants will be scheduled per event with varying shift lengths between 2-8 hours (3-4 is most typical). You will be working with event manager(s) throughout the event. You will work with the rest of the team to ensure the property is in its best condition and help get ready for future events.
Duties
Reset tables and chairs for our next event (or review that it has been reset correctly)
Work with the Abella team to ensure the main spaces of the property are cleaned up and in event-ready condition, including but not limited to: picking up trash, sweeping the patio, washing the windows, weeding etc.
Clean and restock restrooms
Ensure the property is properly set for the event including: setting up rental items, putting out trash bins, etc.
Assist with guests with parking
Assist with resetting ceremony space for the next event
Other duties as assigned
Responsibilities
Be professional, kind and helpful in all interactions with event guests and/or vendors:
Provide guests and vendors with helpful information or advice - if needed, connect them to the appropriate Abella team member
Look for opportunities to exceed guest’s expectations of service
Troubleshoot property, facility, and equipment issues and loop in your supervisor if necessary
Positively represent Abella and our values
Operating light machinery (examples: tractor, lawn mower, weed whacker, etc.)
Exercise discretion at all times
Abella has a zero tolerance policy for alcohol and drug use while working
Qualifications
General knowledge of related cleaning, maintenance and teardown tasks (experience preferred)
